Eileen joined the Women's Royal Navy in 1947

Became a WReN, which led to meeting Neil in Wetherby.

She was initially at Reading and then went to HMS Ceres in Harrogate and then onto the naval barracks at Chatham, where she was one of the few ladies to be transferred to the Royal Marines and became a Royal Marine Wren. Anina, her grand daughter ended up studying nursing in the same buildings where Eileen worked 70 years previously. She entered the Navy professionally at this point.
